• Just want to let you know that I’m still enjoying eZine - especially the cartoons considering the amazing, ridiculous group of republican candidates are truly cartoons - with Stephan Colbert and Jon Stewart gone or (almost gone) - there is no other place to get real “news”. -- Patricia Hagan

• Outstanding Newsletter once again Bob. It's packed with information and happenings going on in the County that most of us would normally not be aware of. I love it! -- Maria Mceneany

• You do a wonderful job in your ezine, and I can't express enough gratitude. I must try to spread your word (digesting and linking others so well) and hope more friends subscribe and read them. - Chuck Samples

• You and DIRECT eZine rock!! I plan on sharing your eZine with the Louisiana Dems I FINAALLLY tracked down after 4 years searching (boy, talk about hiding your light under a basket!) to show them how to do it right!

Democratically Yours, Patricia Davison (former Black Mt Dem, now down in Jindalville trying to stir up some ****)

• A little background ... in the 90's, when I was on the Democratic Party Central Committees of both my County (San Diego) and state (California), Robert Jellison was the editor of the official newsletter for our County Party, which became immensely popular far beyond our county.

When he left and someone else took over the job, the effort was well intended, but did not include anything near the level of entertainment and insight that Bob consistently provided every week.

By popular demand, Bob continued his own individual weekly newsletter, essentially continuing an evolved and improved version the same newsletter that had been so popular over the years when it was the official party document, but without the local announcements, calendar and official business of the county party that are handled, still, by the official newsletter."

More: "I've said it before, but can't say it enough. This is absolutely the best digest for PROgressives.

It comes out once a week, FREE, and is completely unobtrusive.

Humor, political cartoons, and many, many articles that are entertaining, informative and/or thought-provoking. A sample paragraph or two and then a link to the whole article if you found it interesting.

And the best part is this digest is FREE and PROgressives owe a huge debt of gratitude to Robert Jellison, a friend (online and off) for 20 years, for producing it." -- Douglas Dunn on Facebook 1107/13

• DIRECT eZine for Democrats is by far the best, free, weekly newsletter for Democrats. I’ve been reading it for years and I highly recommend it to all my friends on the political left. Frankly, I don’t know how they pack so much important information into one newsletter, but I’m glad they do. -- Doug Marquardt at All Things Democrat

• Your service as been invaluable in keeping people informed. We really appreciate all the time and effort you dedicate to publishing it weekly. -- Arlene & Larry Howe

• Thanks, Bob. Again, thank you for all you do in putting together this eZine - I love it and regularly share from it with my 5,000+ Facebook friends. Namaste... -- John Lundin

• You do a GREAT job putting these together. That does not diminish the fact that much of it is SO depressing! I think the most depressing fact that came out of the November election is the realization that 47.2% of the voters voted for Romney/Ryan! Keep up the good work. -- Rick Battson

• This is the best, most concise weekly digest of news and articles I have seen, with scattered humor and cartoons throughout, with just a blurb excerpted from selected articles and a link if the teaser whets your appetite for more. Thought-provoking, insightful and often laugh-out-loud funny, Robert Jellison consistently — week after week — puts out an excellent FREE product, as he has for many years. -- Douglas Dunn

• Bob, really enjoy the eZine. Appreciate the hard work that goes into it. Thank you very much. -- Nick Shestople, Democratic Club of SW Riverside County

• What a beautiful issue this week (11/8/12), Bob! Seriously, though, I'm taking a nudge from this year's election just to let you know how much I value what you do by collecting all these items. That's true week in & week out, regardless of election results. - Paul Kilmer Harrisburg, PA

• Thanks again for your TERRIFIC information, as well as Red Cross info. Each issue is more informative than the last. -- Ruth Callomon

• Great photos, great artwork, great e-zine. Thanks for your efforts. -- Sandy Roggero

• This has got to be the very BEST Democratic newsletter in the entire nation! How do you continue to do it???? Such dedication is so impressive. Thank you so much! -- Ann Welsh

• Bob Jellison's weekly eZine for Democrats is consistently one of the best compilations of articles and HUMOR (lots of late night jokes for Dems and lots of political cartoons), as well as many brief abstracts of articles with links to the full articles if the teaser caught your interest. I greatly enjoy this fun-filled but thought-provoking weekly compendium of insight and entertainment, and strongly recommend checking it out and, if you enjoy it as much as I do, taking a FREE subscription (I've been enjoying it for YEARS)." -- Douglas Dunn

• Just a note to tell you I think you are terrific! How about running for president or king, or something worthy of your intelligent selection of clips for your weekly message? You keep me up late so I can quietly read your choices and totally enjoy them without any phone or doorbell interruptions. But then I'm losing sleep - oh well, I guess I can't have everything. Thank you for your continuing great job. Now, please tell me that Obama will win. I can't stand the constant nauseous feeling I get hearing froom and about the RR pair. I truly am grateful for your efforts. Marge Moss

• I want to thank you for all the time and effort you must put into this wonderful ezine. I read it religiously and find it both informative and amusing (and depressing but let's not go there). • Thanks for all you do! I love your newsletter!!-- Lesa Heebner

• Quite by accident I have discovered a sort of godsend, a website that is admittedly partisan but of great value to any partisan or independent reader.

A friend of mine edits and compiles a collection of political articles from the web that he considers valuable and of interest to the members of the Democratic Party; consequently, these items are often items about leaders of the opposition Republican Party.  He then publishes his findings on his own website for member of the Democratic Party; the site is Direct eZine for Democrats, at: http://direct.sddem.org/.  To receive this source by email periodically, you can get a FREE subscription by: “To subscribe to this free eZine email jellison3@me.com with ‘subscribe’ as the subject.”

The great thing about Direct is that it contains direct quotes and THE SOURCE.

As indicated previously, this is a partisan Democratic Party news source; Republican readers should read it and consider it, “knowing the enemy” and Independents should consider it a partisan source, which it is.

As a teacher, I recommend everyone read it for themselves and make their own decisions. -- Richard Blankenburg in his blog,’Quixotic Tales, at http://quixotictales.escapenet.ch/?p=504

• My friend Bob Jellison publishes his now-world famous DIRECT Weekly eZine for Democrats. Bob's weekly digest is comprehensive, well-organized, fun. Even Rs like it. This one is #727. -- Dan Hull
• I, like many others, have become addicted to your weekly Democratic Newsletter. I started reading it for the jokes & cartoons, which continue to be enjoying, but there is a lot of meat and potatoes between the "dessert". Everything is obviously well researched. Where do you find the time to do this every week? I wish we could get this into the hands of every American voter. The current issue is one of the best among many great ones. I took the time today to read through many of the comments made by others. It is my good fortune to be personally acquainted with you. Keep up the good work. -- Paul Skizinski, Englewood, Colorado
• "Still Rockin' out these Newsletters! Love them. Happy New Year." -- Nadine Scott
• "Thank you one million - or more - times for all your marvelous work in presenting the weekly Democratic news. I feel you have done a terrific job and I look forward to reading your work each week. ... Thank you for keeping us enlightened." -- Marge Moss, Del Mar

It allows the reader to quickly scan brief excerpts from many excellent sources, with links to the entire source for those wanting more. It is generously sprinkled with cartoons and humor and insightful observations. Robert Jellison does a consistently remarkable job of putting together an excellent, informative and enlightening resource." -- Douglas Dunn

• I must say I am in awe of the work you do collecting and publishing all the information you do, especially the attributions, without which the work would be less believable. I use the info regularly, and pass the link to lots and lots of friends and acquaintances of all political persuasions. Thanks again, Chris Fooshee

• "Please add me to your list of subscribers. I'm thrilled that a Democrat has finally started something to counter the GOP (goofy old poops), Gingrich, HuckaDON'T, Paw-LEASE-NO-enty, Palin the Moose Killer, Boo-Hoo Boehner, Can'tDo-Cantor, O'Really?, Lim-blagh, and the Mormon's favorite non-polygimist: Saint Glenn of Beck. Lord help this country over the next two years. I was watching a program on The History Channel today about the Fall of The Third Reich, and some of the similarities between the Nazi's and the Republi-CAN'Ts are down-right frightening. -- Duane Beach

• For many years now, I have been a avid reader and subscriber of DIRECT, the eNewsletter for Democrats which you edit. At this time, I would like to particularly commend you for the "On the Record" portion of the newsletter; "On the Record" is a brilliant synopsis of the current political world, from an enlightened liberal view. The items with the sources provided are a real asset for any concerned , civic minded citizen who has limited time to search for truth in politics, himself. My only regret is that every American citizen does not have the opportunity to keep current on the political scene by having access to your "Or the Record." I commend you! -- Richard Blankenburg

• You do a tremendous job on the newsletter; professional and informative. It's my primary source of information, at least for the deeper issues that the mainstream media doesn't cover. -- Clyde Elkins

• Thanks again for another great edition. They keep getting better. I think a part of me lives for these! The most positive is that this really is a counteraction for discouragement. We worry, we get angry, we wonder if anyone else is there on the same page, and every Thursday we discover that, yes, people are on these things! It's such a relief. -- Jacqueline McElveny

• Just have to tell you how much I enjoy the newsletter you publish. I really get angry and frustrated over the things that this rotten Cheney/Bush administration does as they seem to corrupt and distort everything they touch. The humor you provide, especially the Borowitz and Leno bits, really tickle my funny bone. Laughter is indeed the best medicine that keeps me from the developing an ulcer over the way our country is being shipwrecked by the actions of this bent administration. I also appreciate the political cartoons, the factual information, and op-ed pieces, but it is the levity that lightens the load and helps me keep my sanity. At least I think I'm sane, but the jury is still out on that one according to my Republican friends. (They seem to squirm when I forward your stuff to them.) Keep up your good work, Bob. It is truly appreciated. -- Barney Scott

• I don't know if you have gotten a thank you today yet, but here is mine: THANK YOU so much. You are doing great work for us. -- Kay Stewart

• Hey Bob, I just wanted to say I think you do an *awesome* job on this newsletter, and I often forward the links (or the entire newsletter!) to my friends. cheers. -- Adam

• Excellent work Bob. I ALWAYS appreciate your efforts. I select the issues I care most about and forward the excerpts and links to like-minded people. -- Clyde

• Another great issue. I think your use of video is excellent as -- okay, label me as older -- it appeals to younger people who are more into visuals. The video from Iraq (I enjoy video also) on the Guardian website was incredibly moving, made me cry, and I sent it to all my like-minded friends telling them that it would make THEM cry and that if it didn't, it SHOULD. It portrayed the Iraqis as just as human and in the same ways as you and I -- something I've tried to promote for 4+ long years, often against oppostion from my own family members. It also portrayed the basic decency of our troops over there and the absolutely, freakishly impossible situation they find themselves in. It boggles my mind that ANY of them come home even remotely sane......... Bob, you must, really must, at least THINK about going national with this. -- Jacqueline McElveny

• Dear Bob, The stuff that you amass each week is formidable. Keep up the good work. Peace. -- Joe Nichols

• Wow! A decade and 500 issues! That is awesome! I have been reading DIRECT for three years now, and I recommend it to every Democrat that I meet. I appreciate your diligence, and the love you put into it is evident in the quality of the e-newsletter. You get an A+ from this teacher! :-) Thank you so much! With gratitude. -- Judy Ki

• # 500 may be your best yet!!!!. -- Mike Mout

• I can't thank you enough for putting out the DIRECT. Great service. The jokes and cartoons are such fun. You are performing a highly valuable service to the DEM community. Each week when I open your newsletter I am sure to be informed and entertained. -- Vikky Anders

• I've been spending this Saturday reading everything in this latest issue of Direct and I am in awe. Please tell me you have a staff of at least ten people to gather, post, format, link, edit and publish all of this information for each issue. • Brilliant newsletter as always. What do you think about starting to have folks subscribe to it? Too much hassle? The calendar of events would still be free but I think it's worth millions to the public who are engaged and want to know! Keep up the great work! -- Nadine Scott

• I really appreciate your efforts pulling the newsletter together every week. Thanks much. -- Nancy Stern

• Your news round-up is fantastic! I always look forward to the letters, and open them when I can relax and laugh. Your sense of humor is refreshing;the titles of each article are hilarious. -- Terry Olson

• I read these every time I get them and thoroughly enjoy them, but just sort of take them for granted. It occurred to me today that these are really, really well done and that maybe nobody thinks to tell you. So consider yourself told. Thanks and keep up the good work! -- Jackie Mcelveny

This Thanksgiving I am saying thanks to dedicated Democrats like you, my gratitude and appreciation only grows as the news rolls, thank you, thank you, thank you! -- Mary Oren.

• I am long due in expressing my appreciation for the superb job you do compiling Direct every week. Although I keep up with the news through on line sources such as Truth Out and Huffington Post, and many etc.'s during the week, I always read through your publication every weekend and invariably find nuggets of important information that educate and inform me.
